Description
Curcumin (a bioactive constituent of Turmeric) is often used for inflammation, osteoarthritis, depression, gastrointestinal distress, for its antioxidant effects, and more. On its own, however, it’s hard for the body to use. Piperine (extracted from Black Pepper) increases the bioavailability of Curcumin making it easier for the body to benefit from its use. It does this by suppressing the body’s drug and supplement transporters and metabolizers, allowing for greater absorption, saturation, and longevity of Curcumin.
Curcumin is known for possessing several advantages to health, such as being a strong antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial, and the effects of curcumin as an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulator are widely agreed upon.
Curcumin affects the function, differentiation, and maturation of a number of immune cells actively engaged in the pathogenesis or progression of intestinal inflammatory diseases. Researchers have studied curcumin for intestinal illnesses such as necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), Crohn’s disease (CD), and ulcerative colitis (UC) and was found to encourage a healthier intestinal microbiome.
Because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, Curcumin may also be useful as a cognitive aid, potentially protecting the brain from oxidative stress. One study shows curcumin to have a positive effect on mood, attention, and working memory in a healthy older population.

I’ve read a lot of research that says inflammation is often a factor in depression. So, we started using this along with Omega-3’s, and SAM-e for my teenage son’s depression and it’s really made a difference. With all of our poor diets and stressful lives, we should all probably be on this as it’s the best anti-inflammatory out there. It’s regularily taken at our house.

I am still on my first 60 capsules but have noticed an improvement in joint tenderness and muscle recovery after horseback riding. Will keep going with it!
